What's New?

Here's a brief overview of a few things that have changed for 2010:

New Camp Rules: There are several changes to the Camp Policies, so be sure to read them carefully. Keep in mind that the rules are designed to PREVENT problems, so communicate them strongly to your students. The key changes are:

  1. We have made it clear that SLC is a school event, so school rules apply and your school administration can implement any discipline in addition to camp disciplinary action.
  2. We made it clear that campers cannot enter a cabin of the opposite sex even during check-in and check-out. We had issues with boys helping girls moving in and out of their cabins, so this was added to address this issue.
  3. We added a statement that campers cannot enter ANY cabin that they are not asssigned to. This is to clarify that campers cannot enter any other cabin except their own.
  4. We added a statement that strongly recommends that campers do not bring valuable items such as ipods and cell phones. If they choose to bring them, the Center will not take responsibility and the staff will not pursue a search for lost or stolen items.
  5. We added a statement to clarify that language or behavior that is inappropriate will not be tolerated.
  6. We added graffiti to the list of destructive acts. We also stated that the chapter will be billed for damages caused by their students.

New Schedule: Check-in will end at 12:00 PM on Monday, and the Advisor Meeting will start at 1:00 PM. This is earlier than before, so be sure to plan for the change. Why did we make this change? First, we want to get the Advisor Meeting done so you can attend Student Orientation. Second, we want your students to be able to arrive, move into cabins, and eat lunch.

Special Event: Dr. Al Snyder will be returning to entertain you with his hilarious hypnotist show!

No CD version of the Advisor Guide: To reduce cost and allow us to update the Guide as needed, we are no longer providing a CD version. Everything you need is still right here on the online version!

New Forms: We have made significant changes to the forms, so be sure to use the new forms for 2010.

Combined Parental Consent and Code of Conduct: You asked for it, so we did it. We made the Code of Conduct a "Page 3" of the Parental Consent Form.

No cardboard boats: We will take a year off from the cardboard boats. We might bring it back into a rotation in the future.
